Winter is Back

Looking further ahead, scientists are predicting that the upcoming winter will be strongly affected by La Niña conditions, which means that the winter of 2016-17 is ultimately expected to be a big one with copious amounts of snowfall. At this point, AccuWeather forecasters are predicting a weak La Niña to develop during late fall and into the winter. They report, “The northwestern U.S. will experience the brunt of La Niña’s impacts, leading to stormy conditions throughout the winter.”

According to the 2017 Farmers’ Almanac, predictions point to some snow and cold conditions in mid-Novemberrrrr. “The party is over. Winter is back!” An active storm track is anticipated to deliver above-normal precipitation to the Northeast throughout most of the winter. But the good news is that the frigidly cold temps really won’t take hold until much later in the season. It’s never too early to make sure your snow blowers still work and talk to a Lawes specialist about filling your oil tank.
